The date of the upcoming presidential elections in Belarus will be determined in the near future. This was stated today by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during video conference negotiations with his Moldovan counterpart, Igor Dodon, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"Know that you are always a welcome guest in Belarus. At any time, as soon as circumstances permit. I know you have presidential elections, but we will have presidential elections even earlier. We have no grounds to postpone them here, there is no constitutional possibility to postpone these elections. Therefore, we will hold the elections, and we will determine the date in the near future. It will definitely be in the summer. The deadline is the end of August," the head of state stated.

Regarding the upcoming presidential elections in Moldova, Alexander Lukashenko noted that Igor Dodon is receiving increasing support from the Moldovan people. "It seems to me that the Moldovan people are ready to support the proposals that you and your team have submitted for consideration by Moldovans today," the Belarusian leader is confident.

The President assured that Belarus is ready, as before, to actively develop cooperation with Moldova: "Know that we are always there, always ready to support your people. We can do a lot for Moldova. As soon as your restrictions are lifted, we are ready to come to you, fly, trade, communicate. We will be glad to see representatives of Moldova in Belarus as well." -0-
