Lukashenko on the production of land reclamation equipment: this is a profitable, economically advantageous area

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is confident that the production of reclamation machinery is an economically profitable area and needs further development. He stated this during his visit to OJSC "Amkodor-KEZ" in Kokhanovo, Tolochin District, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We need to develop this area. It is a profitable area, economically advantageous," said the head of state.

He noted that the relevant machinery is in demand not only in Belarus but also abroad, particularly in Russia.

The President was informed that the enterprise is developing steadily, both the production in Kokhanovo and the "AMKODOR" holding as a whole. A number of import substitution projects are being implemented, including with state credit support. The company plans to increase investment.

In particular, the production facility in Tolochin District requires additional labour and is ready to hire people. One of the benefits is assistance in resolving housing issues.

"To retain people, there must be housing. And how many apartments are needed now?" Alexander Lukashenko inquired. He was told that approximately 35-40 are needed.

The President emphasized that he sees prospects in the production, as well as in the settlement as a whole. Moreover, "Amkodor's" production is not the only one here. For example, there is a woodworking enterprise that is implementing a project to produce components for modern wooden house construction. Innovative approaches allow for the construction of such houses up to eight storeys high.

Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the demand for the project, including its export potential. With relatively small investments, a good return can be achieved. Again, local raw materials and labour resources are used, and regional development goals are being realised.

"If you see a market, you must do it instantly. If this project is needed, we will support it. Houses need to be built," the head of state stressed. "If it is a normal project, then it needs to be invested in and built. Especially since it creates jobs and utilises raw materials that we do not always process."

After a detailed report on the state of affairs in the holding and at the enterprise, Alexander Lukashenko visited the production facilities and modernized workshops.

The head of state was also presented with a wide range of manufactured machines, main units, and components created within the framework of the import substitution program, and witnessed the practical operation of reclamation machinery.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus has already established sufficient production facilities in areas that elevate the nation to a new level. These include, for example, BNBC and space technologies. However, it is now necessary to focus on and deepen competencies in previously mastered areas, including mechanical engineering. "Let us develop competencies and localization in Belarus. We must pursue this," the Head of State said.

Amkodor-KEZ OJSC is the sole manufacturer in Belarus of land reclamation machines and single-bucket hydraulic excavators on both tracked and wheeled chassis, as well as trenchers. The plant also produces bulldozers, telescopic loaders, channel cleaners, and mowers.
