President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved the strategies for Belarus's participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS. This was reported to BELTA by the Administration of the President of Belarus.

The draft Strategy for Belarus's Participation in the SCO and the Strategy for Action to Implement the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of participation in BRICS activities were submitted by the government for consideration by the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko approved both documents.

It is recalled that in the summer of 2024, the country became a full member of the SCO family, and subsequently obtained the status of a partner state of BRICS.

The approved Strategy for Belarus's Participation in the SCO defines the conceptual areas of activity, goals and objectives of Belarus's participation in the SCO, and the mechanisms for their implementation in the near and medium term.

The Strategy concerning BRICS also defines the priority areas for interaction between Belarus and the member states and partner states of this Association.

Both strategies are designed for five years until 2030. They may be extended, updated, and revised taking into account certain current trends.
