President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is orienting [officials] not to build things that can be done without today and tomorrow. The Head of State stated this at a meeting on draft forecast documents for the upcoming year, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The President noted that new state programs will come into effect next year. The Government has already compiled a list of these programs, which will be considered separately. "The majority are socio-economic in focus and funded from budgets. But what is the basis of these programs? How was the need for resources determined? These must be real, practically applicable plans for specific and effective results," stressed the Belarusian leader.
"At the same time, I want to note, Mr. Prime Minister, I am sure he will fulfill this, he has been instructed not to engage in construction and creation of anything that we can possibly do without today and tomorrow. I see these offices, palaces in the regions. And other things. If something needs to be built, then include it in the program (as part of the plans. - BELTA's note)," the Head of State pointed out.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, there are other areas where funds should be prioritized. For example, for the construction of modern complexes in agriculture for cattle housing.
"Enough of these palaces and cultural facilities. It is probably more important to build housing for people. Do not throw money around that you do not have. Objectively assess the situation and stop the construction of all sorts of museums, rest houses, and so on. These should be utilized," the President noted. - "We will build one museum - and the state, and charity will be involved. All together. And one museum is enough (referring to the construction of a new building for the National Historical Museum in Minsk. - BELTA's note). Enough! People will come, they will look, because there are already oceans of them in the regions. The same applies to other facilities."
