Belarus pursues an open and peace-loving policy, which is not to the liking of all Western democracies. This was stated by the Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko, while accepting letters of credence from ambassadors of foreign countries, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
Belarus, having experienced numerous upheavals and repeatedly becoming a theatre of military operations, has well learned the lessons of history, the President emphasized.
"Our main task is to prevent a new world war," he stated. "Minsk has consistently pursued a very responsible foreign policy. Never in history have we extended our jurisdiction beyond national borders."
"We pursue an open and peace-loving policy. But not all Western democracies like this. And then, arguments of impotence come into play – sanctions," the Belarusian leader continued.
He noted that many countries have repeatedly experienced this kind of pressure, as has Belarus. "Therefore, we consistently and persistently advocate against any illegal restrictive measures that harm not so much us as the entire world," Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
