This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the Victory Monument as part of the patriotic campaign "Belarus Remembers!", as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State recalled that the Victory over Nazism was achieved through the joint efforts of all peoples of the Soviet Union, who united against a common enemy. Tens of other nations of the world fought alongside them against the Hitlerite horde. Including those from Europe and the USA. "And we have not forgotten this; we have a good memory, unlike them," the President remarked.
"Our memory and truth stand as a reliable shield against the establishment of chaos and ideas of superiority in the world. They provide immunity against false ideas and hidden manipulations, becoming a beacon in the sea of challenges and threats of the new era," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. "We did not kneel before the enemies then, and we do not intend to bow our heads to them today. The war taught Belarusians to sacredly cherish their native land, to defend it at the cost of their own lives, and to preserve the memory of the feat of their ancestors. We will not allow a repeat of what they saw and experienced."
As the President noted, the heroes of the war are used as an example to educate youth in Belarus. It is they who are assigned the main role in preserving the memory of the feat of fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers, which must be preserved primarily within families. "And then no political conjuncture will erase or weaken the spiritual unity of generations," said the Head of State. "Otherwise, talk about friendship and peace, about how we are for all good but against all bad, will leave them, and therefore our future, defenseless against the threats of the new era."
