"The media is sacred. And if the state can control these media – by funding, supporting, and so on, especially electronic ones – the state must do so. This is a very state-related matter. And if they are private, then we must reach an agreement with the private owner in such a way that they strictly adhere to their agreement," the President stated.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that the media can both create and elevate a state, and destroy it in an instant. "And since we are statists, we must protect our state. We will not have another one. And our value, our generation's value, will be in strengthening our state and passing it on to our children," the Belarusian leader noted.
Addressing the representatives of television channels, the head of state urged them to continue improving their work in this area. At the same time, the President shared that he views this work from a professional perspective, drawing on his personal experience. "I watch a lot of channels, I compare it all. I once said that in my student years, I was keen on photography and even managed the photo laboratory during my student days. That's why I'm so accustomed to looking at the world through that lens," the President said.
"The quality is already better. Our journalists are good, sincere. That's for sure," the Belarusian leader noted. "Make good television. We have the foundation for this. And make sure that people see you, appreciate you, and respect you. And for that, you must have one quality – honesty and fairness. Television must be honest so that it reflects life," Alexander Lukashenko summarized.
