President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko supported the proposals for the draft decree on the state administration body in the field of digital development and informatization issues, with the exception of one provision. This was announced to journalists by the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Gusakov following a meeting with the Head of State, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

Vladimir Gusakov noted that the Ministry of Communications and Informatization intends to build a management vertical in the field of information technology. The Minister of Communications and Informatization Konstantin Shulgan had previously shared plans to build a state system for managing digital projects.

"Regarding the name, I reported (and the Head of State supported): there is no need to rename the Ministry of Communications and Informatization to the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, because, in our opinion, the functions in informatization are broader than digital development. And digital development is a structural component of informatization. Even if these functions are narrowed down now, after some time the ministry itself will come to the need to expand them. In all other respects, the draft decree is supported, which means it will be necessary to build a complete management and organizational vertical in this complex field," explained the head of the Academy of Sciences.

According to Vladimir Gusakov, the upcoming changes in this area were discussed in detail during the report to the President. "Despite the fact that Belarus is developing well in this direction, ranking among the top thirty countries in the world in terms of information technology, our main goal now is not to fall behind. Therefore, the draft decree as a whole is supported, which is very important. And the functions that were proposed were also supported. And the fact that it is required to build a vertical is also supported. And each ministry, department, and state administration body should have a corresponding structural unit. And now the Ministry of Communications and Informatization is instructed to build this system together with others," he stated.
