On May 12, the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 171 on the admission to citizenship of the Republic of Belarus. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Previously, since August 2021 alone, 1784 Ukrainians, including 390 children, have been admitted to citizenship by the Head of State. Citizenship and migration units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus have processed Belarusian citizenship for 1750 citizens of Ukraine in a simplified manner during the same period.
In total, since the Head of State's meeting with representatives of the public, media, and expert community "Big Talk with the President" on August 9 last year, 3534 Ukrainians have become Belarusian citizens. At that time, Alexander Lukashenko gave the necessary instructions on this matter.
In addition, during this period, Belarusian citizenship has been granted to 709 foreigners who came to Belarus from other countries. For example, two doctors working in the capital's healthcare institutions, who arrived in our country from Syria and Somalia, became citizens of the country.
