President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 141 on April 3 establishing the Appellate Economic Court. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

This decision was made by the Head of State in order to implement the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code, which provides for the creation of a three-tier system of economic courts.

Such a structural transformation will occur by separating the activities of courts of first and appellate instances, which are currently functioning within a single court. This will be an important step towards increasing the efficiency of administering justice in economic cases.

The Appellate Economic Court, as a procedural body, will begin its work on January 1, 2026, i.e., from the date the Civil Procedure Code enters into force.

The court is planned to be formed from the existing number of judges and staff of other courts. A total of 27 judges will work there, including the chairman and his deputies.

The Supreme Court has been instructed to submit proposals for candidates for leadership and judicial positions, as well as to resolve all necessary organizational issues aimed at ensuring the activities of the new judicial body.
