President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed Decree No. 253 "On the simplified procedure for commissioning construction projects," as reported to BELTA by the press service of the Head of State.
The document grants local executive and administrative bodies the right to commission single-family residential houses and non-residential buildings constructed by citizens without permits and design documentation (with the exception of those located in Minsk). In this case, such buildings will not be recognised as unauthorised.
The Decree comes into force on September 1, 2022, and is temporary in nature (until January 1, 2025). The document will allow for the legalisation of unauthorised constructions erected by citizens on land plots obtained by them before September 1, 2022.
