Lukashenko signed decrees on social protection of employees in difficult epidemiological conditions

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed two decrees aimed at enhancing the social protection of employees in the context of overcoming the consequences of implemented anti-epidemic measures in the global and national economies. The Head of State signed Decree No. 178 "On temporary measures of state support for employers and certain categories of citizens". The document is adopted to minimise the impact of the global epidemiological situation on the Belarusian economy and ensure social stability.

The decree provides for the possibility for employers to receive subsidies to supplement the minimum wage of their employees in case of forced part-time employment or downtime declared during the period from May 1 to July 31, as well as to pay contributions to the state non-budgetary social protection fund for the population.

The decision on granting subsidies will be made by the local executive and administrative body, and the transfer of funds will be carried out by the Social Protection Fund body.

The decree also provides for the extension until August 31 of the period for providing state targeted support in the form of a monthly social benefit to citizens whose term of validity of such benefit expires in May-July of the current year.

Another document signed today by the President is Decree No. 179 "On remuneration". It is adopted to enhance the social protection of employees in the public sector, as well as to ensure the sustainable functioning of budgetary organisations and certain institutions (located abroad) in the context of overcoming the consequences of implemented anti-epidemic measures in the global and national economies.

The decree provides for maintaining the wages of employees of budgetary organisations at a level not lower than the minimum wage and making corresponding additional payments to them in case of forced part-time employment or downtime.
