President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed a law that comprehensively amends the Education Code. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document includes provisions aimed at improving the efficiency, quality, and accessibility of education, expanding state protection for students, young specialists, and socially vulnerable categories of children and youth, as well as strengthening the responsibility of participants in educational relations.In particular, the government is empowered to reallocate and redirect young specialists to work, provide them with additional social guarantees, and local authorities are empowered to organize free transportation for students within settlements to the venues of educational, sports, cultural, and other events.
Schools located in urban-type settlements and rural settlements will be given the opportunity to train drivers of mechanical vehicles and self-propelled machines.
The list of children with preferential rights when admitted to sanatorium boarding schools has been supplemented with the category of "children with disabilities" up to 18 years of age, for the purpose of their social support.
Foreigners have been granted the right to receive a grant for preparation for admission to Belarusian educational institutions.
Foster parents and guardian parents have been included in the list of pedagogical workers to enhance their status.
A requirement for school students to adhere to a business dress code has been established.
The law also provides for other provisions that adjust state policy in the field of education, taking into account the trends in the development of the modern educational space and the practical application of the current code.
