President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko confirmed plans to develop a fair pricing formula by April 1. He stated this while receiving a report from the Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The pricing formula. The formula, as we call it, of fairness. You objected then (at the meeting on this topic on February 28 of this year. - BELTA note), when you were a governor. And now, as head of government, how do you see it? But by April 1 – we promised the people that we would develop this formula, which will neither oppress entrepreneurs – producers, nor oppress consumers," said the President.
As BELTA reported, following the meeting on February 28, Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to determine a new price regulation system by April.
"For the President, everything related to ensuring the social standards of every person's life is the number one issue. The government has proposed two options: the first is short-term, the second is medium-term. The short-term option is based on the proposals of businesses, with whom we have very closely and thoroughly worked out approaches that would be acceptable to businesses," - told journalists then First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov.
It is this approach that the government has taken as a basis and submitted for the Head of State's consideration. Its essence lies in adjusting the established system of price regulation, working on mistakes, and eliminating existing distortions and imbalances based on established practice.
"The President has adopted this approach and has instructed to refine it jointly with government bodies, regional executive committees, and businesses and submit it by April 1, preferably by March 25. The work is, in principle, not difficult, it is understandable. We understand what needs to be adjusted," - stated Nikolai Snopkov.
The government's medium-term proposal is to establish a republican system for the circulation of goods, works, and services. "Today, several platforms are already being implemented in the country. These include a goods traceability platform, a goods marking platform, electronic invoices, and the being introduced SKKO system (cash register equipment control system. - BELTA's note). By integrating these systems and making them 'user-friendly', we will obtain a unified trade document, through which the analytical center will see all the movement of goods, works, and services in the country. The main goal of creating such a platform is to track the added value in the goods' movement chain," explained the First Deputy Prime Minister.
