"This is what we must primarily proceed from. Not just to lock the border tightly and create problems for our citizens and those who come to us, but to create a favourable zone and at the same time to intercept those who come to us with undesirable intentions. This is especially important on the eve of the II European Games," said the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko instructed to ensure legality and law and order, showing maximum attention to tourists and guests of Belarus.
The President recalled that a year ago, the areas of work of the State Border Committee for border protection and strengthening law and order in the border area were specified. All necessary decisions were made. The optimisation of control procedures at the border has increased the efficiency of Belarusian border crossing points. "Practice has shown that certain functions of border guards can be performed by customs officers in some cases. This is a rational approach, and this work should be continued," believes the head of state.
The President set a number of topical issues before the leadership of the State Border Committee, including how capable the border service authorities are of countering existing challenges. "There are more challenges than there were even last year," noted the Belarusian leader.
