Lukashenko: Provisions of the updated Constitution will ensure Belarus's development amid challenges and threats

The provisions of the updated Constitution will ensure the development of Belarus in the face of challenges and threats to statehood. This was stated by the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting of the Security Council of Belarus, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We are approaching the logical conclusion of the constitutional reform process. It is very important that it began not in offices, but in work collectives, at dialogue platforms in the regions. Practically all ideas and proposals discussed there formed the basis for amendments to the Basic Law. To date, they have been developed, supplemented, and refined by the Constitutional Commission, the working group, professional lawyers, and legal scholars, and have undergone broad public discussion," the President said.

He noted that the referendum, as a form of popular will expression, has played a fateful role three times in the history of sovereign, independent Belarus.

"Today, the time has come to strengthen the Basic Law with provisions that will ensure the development of Belarus in the face of new challenges and threats to our statehood. And there is no doubt in this room, or beyond it, that they will emerge," Alexander Lukashenko stated.

According to him, new dangers will constantly arise, and the recent events in Kazakhstan are direct confirmation of this. "To put it literally, it is another alarm signal for us, for Russia, for other countries of the post-Soviet space. And not only for them," the Belarusian leader remarked.
