President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed to create a working group to inspect the education system, similar to the recent inspection of the healthcare system, BelTA reports.
"We need to, Andrey Ivanovich (Minister of Education Andrey Ivants. - BelTA note), create a group like the one in healthcare and inspect the higher education institutions. We need to shake them up. They have become incredibly ossified!" said the head of state. First and foremost, the President demanded attention be paid to the content and quality of training programs and to consider the possibility of reducing the training time for certain specialties: "We need to take a close look during the work of this working group at what the programs will be and, for these programs, the corresponding education. Perhaps not five years somewhere, not four years, but three and four years."
"By September 1, we must clearly decide what we are going to do. And if necessary (and most likely it will be necessary), we will meet at the end of August after the work of the commission that will be created and will thoroughly examine all higher education institutions, look at how it was done in healthcare. We will summarize the results and draw conclusions on who we will continue to work with," said Alexander Lukashenko.
