During a working trip to the Mogilev region, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed to restore the average salary to the level of $500 in 2017, provided that labor productivity grows accordingly, BELTA correspondent reports.
While hearing a report on the development prospects of the regional center, the President noted that he considers the current salary level to be insufficient. "Prepare to reach an average salary of $500 next year," Alexander Lukashenko instructed. At the same time, the head of state added that it is inexpedient to increase wages without an increase in labor productivity. "I am not saying that unearned money should be paid. In no case. Otherwise, we will return to where we started two years ago. We must stimulate, push the heads of private and state enterprises to approach $500," the President emphasized. "People must be supported at all costs."
Alexander Lukashenko paid special attention to job creation and citizen employment. "These must be new jobs, there should be no deception here, because you will be deceiving yourselves," the head of state remarked. The President also set the task to work more actively with loss-making enterprises, especially those facing bankruptcy. According to Alexander Lukashenko, it is necessary to do everything possible to make them work. "These phrases 'we will bankrupt through rehabilitation' - you are simply scaring people and workforces. No one will be allowed to close or thoughtlessly sell enterprises. We must abandon this once and for all, both in agriculture and in industry. We are the bankrupts if we have such a farm or enterprise," the head of state stated. "Enterprises must be saved so that people work. Therefore, send whomever you want there (it's your business) and manage it until it reaches a normal level of operation."
