Lukashenko visits Slutsk district on a working trip

October 23, Slutsk District /BelTA correspondent/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is on a working visit to the Slutsk District of the Minsk Region today, BelTA reports.

The Head of State will be briefed on the progress of the harvesting campaign across the country and in the region in particular. The discussion will include, among other things, the organisation of corn harvesting.

The President will visit the agricultural branch of OJSC "Slutsk Dairy Plant" and the MTC "Vankovshchina", where he will be informed about new approaches to the construction of dairy complexes in the Minsk Region.

Agricultural organisations in the Minsk Region plan to build 17 dairy complexes with a capacity of at least 800 head of dairy herd in 2021. This is planned to be done under an investment program with state support. The construction of the facilities will be financed in equal shares from the regional and republican budgets. Milking and cooling equipment will be purchased on lease terms through OJSC "Promagroleasing". Construction and installation work and completion of work at the facilities will be carried out by agricultural organisations at their own expense.

New premises for housing the dairy herd and a milking parlour are planned to be built next to the existing complexes. The old premises will be reconstructed to house part of the cows and young stock. Funds for the construction of MTCs are planned to be saved by reducing costs for the construction of engineering and transport infrastructure, silage and haylage trenches, and premises for raising young stock.

Regarding the corn harvest, the sown areas have been increased in Belarus this year, and consequently, the production of corn grain for feed purposes will grow. Over the last five years, the average annual volume was 865 thousand tons, and this year it is expected to be at least 1.3 million tons of corn grain.

In addition, thanks to the implementation of investment projects for the construction of corn-calibrating plants, 52% of corn crops in the country have been sown with domestic hybrids this year.-0-
