President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is visiting the Planar holding company, where the prospects for the development of microelectronics will be discussed, reports BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State will be informed about the financial and economic condition and development prospects of the enterprise, and will also be demonstrated developments of opto-mechanical precision technological equipment built using laser technologies.
The Scientific and Production Holding of Precision Engineering "Planar" was established in 2014. It includes, among others, OJSC "Zavod "Elektronmash"" and "Optoelectronic Systems". Among the main activities of "Planar" is the creation and production of special technological equipment for the manufacture of microelectronic products.
Based on the results of work in 2022, the revenue from sales of products amounted to about Br57.5 million (21% higher than in 2021). Net profit reached almost Br26.4 million (against a target of Br12.2 million). Sales profitability was almost 13%. Last year, "Planar" increased its export volumes by 70%. The average salary at the enterprise increased by almost 23%, and the costs of production decreased by 3%.
The wide range of products manufactured by the holding companies includes not only microelectronic products and electronic equipment, but also medical devices. For example, "Planar" is currently implementing a project to develop technology and master the production of biocompatible material for heart valve endoprostheses.
As reported, in June last year, at the level of the Head of State, the issue of developing the microelectronics sector in Belarus was approached globally. A meeting on this topic was held then. Alexander Lukashenko urged specialists, enterprise management and officials not to confine themselves within national borders. "This will not yield the desired effect," stressed the Belarusian leader. "We need to cooperate not only where we are welcomed with open arms, for example, in Russia, but also where we are not expected – with Americans, Japanese, and so on. If only to see the highest level we are striving for."
