President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated builders, railway workers, and employees of the Baikal-Amur Mainline on the memorable event – the 50th anniversary of the start of BAM construction. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Head of State.
"BAM is a bright page in the destiny of several generations of Soviet people and one of the most ambitious projects in human history. Hundreds of thousands of true enthusiasts, despite difficulties and harsh natural conditions, laid a railway track through mountain ranges, impassable taiga, and permafrost zones. As time has shown, it has become a road to the future, which today connects many Russian regions and is a crucial factor in the development of Eastern Siberia and the Far East," the congratulatory message reads.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that about 60,000 Belarusians took an active part in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, along with representatives of other fraternal Soviet peoples, demonstrating to the whole world what true patriots united by a great goal are capable of. "Your labour feats are a worthy example for today's youth," the President emphasised.
The Head of State wished the participants of the legendary construction project of different generations good health, happiness, well-being, and success in all their endeavours.
