President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated his compatriots on the 555th anniversary of the acquisition of the miraculous Zhirovichi Icon of the Mother of God and the 505th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Assumption Zhirovichi Stavropegic Men's Monastery. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"For more than five centuries, prayers for the well-being of our native land have been heard here, and the miraculous icon, emanating healing power, attracts pilgrims from all over the world. Millions of people find hope by touching the shrine and are spiritually enriched by visiting the monastery," the congratulation reads.
Thanks to the attention of the state, the professionalism of the builders, and the efforts of the clergy, the monastery has been transformed and rightfully serves as the centre of Belarusian Orthodoxy, the President noted.
"I am confident that this holy place will unite Christians for many years to come, contributing to the strengthening of interfaith peace and harmony in society," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
The Head of State wished everyone good health, boundless faith, and success in their labours for the prosperity of their native Belarus.
