President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposes that China outline additional avenues for cooperation, taking into account the regional situation and sanctions. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today at a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, Xie Xiaoyong, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"In light of the events unfolding in our region, we should briefly discuss this situation and outline additional avenues for cooperation with the People's Republic of China. At the same time, I want to emphasize: I am not insisting that China bear any responsibility or suffer any losses due to the sanctions imposed against Russia and Belarus," stated the head of state.

"In this situation, we need to build and find a model of mutual relations and cooperation that would correspond to the interests of both countries. This is our goal, the leadership of our country. It has always been so. But now some things need to be specified. This is the topic I would like to discuss with you today and would ask you to convey this to the leadership, the Chairman of the PRC, so that they are more fully informed of our position and our actions during this challenging time in the Central European region," noted the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the development of relations with the PRC is a top priority in Belarus's foreign policy and economy. "Foreign economic and foreign policy aspects play a crucial role. We have achieved a great deal in recent years, especially during the period when Xi Jinping became and still is the Chairman. He is a great friend of the Belarusian people. We have developed very good relations with him. During his chairmanship, the Belarusian people truly learned what China and the Chinese people are. Our people have learned who our friends are, including the Chinese people," stated the head of state.
