President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has proposed that China build a new landmark facility in Minsk. The Head of State announced this at a meeting with Hao Ping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, and representatives of Chinese universities, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The President recalled that the parties have already implemented many projects in the field of architecture and urban planning: "Speaking of Minsk, you should know that at one time we agreed with Xi Jinping (Chairman of the People's Republic of China. - BELTA's note) that the Chinese would build a good hotel and a China Town for us. They have implemented this. Not far from the Palace of Independence, we have a China Town built by your construction workers. And the Beijing Hotel."
Currently, two major sports facilities are under construction in Minsk by the Chinese side. "On the humanitarian track, you are building a stadium and a swimming pool for us. We will complete this construction this year," noted Alexander Lukashenko.
He also spoke about the proposal to build another landmark facility for the capital and all of Belarus with the participation of Chinese specialists: "We want to agree with you on helping us, especially in planning the architecture, to build a Museum of the History of Belarus similar to a Chinese one. We are already cooperating with your specialists. It will be located very close by. It will adorn our Minsk."
"In other words, we have decent plans. Both in economics and politics. We will always be reliable friends for you," the Belarusian leader summarized.
