The address by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, sent to the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union in connection with Belarus's assumption of the EAEU presidency, contains a number of initiatives crucial for the further development of the union. This opinion was expressed to a BELTA correspondent by Stanislav Naumov, Director General of the Eurasian Center for Integration Research and Communications.
In the expert's opinion, one of the significant proposals is to grant the Eurasian Economic Commission the authority to directly apply to the EAEU Court."The second important point is the transition to mandatory coordination with the EAEU of any temporary restrictions on the four freedoms (movement of goods, labor, services, and capital) at the national level," said Stanislav Naumov. "Finally, the third cardinal point is the statement that only the transition to a unified industrial and agro-industrial policy can rid the single economic space of this very practice of temporary restrictions."
The expert believes that the statement correctly emphasizes the need for the previously planned and agreed-upon completion of the formation of unified transport and energy markets.
"And here, one should not throw stones at Alexander Lukashenko regarding the cost of energy resources; it is broader and deeper," noted the head of the Eurasian Center for Integration Research and Communications.
Furthermore, Stanislav Naumov drew attention to the proposal contained in the address regarding the formation of a unified information policy for all EAEU countries. "Yes, this is the politicization of the project, but it will benefit all socio-economic programs mentioned in the message. Such is modern life," the expert summarized.
