Lukashenko proposed that Venezuela revise cooperation and develop a roadmap for the future

Belarus and Venezuela need to review various areas of cooperation and develop a roadmap for the future. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, on October 17 at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Ivan Gil Pinto, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"It is good that you have come to Belarus, it is very timely. I think we do not need to introduce ourselves to each other, we do not need to talk about our capabilities and Venezuela's capabilities in our cooperation. We have known each other for a long time and have done a lot in our time to intensify our interaction," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The President pointed out that due to certain reasons (primarily external ones), interaction between the countries has been put on hold. "I feel that we need to review all those areas and issues of cooperation that we identified back in the days of Hugo Chávez. We must unequivocally determine what we should and can do for Venezuela, and what Venezuela should do regarding Belarus. Develop an appropriate plan, a roadmap for our actions for the near and medium-term, and perhaps long-term prospects," the head of state stated. "If other states, for example, Cuba, have to be included in this cooperation scheme, we agree. In short, if you agree, then before the New Year, we will be ready, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be ready to implement these agreements."

Ivan Gil Pinto, first of all, conveyed warm greetings from the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to Aleksandr Lukashenko. The head of the foreign ministry noted that he fully shares the opinion of the President of Belarus regarding the relations between the two countries – they are quite strong and have undergone more than 20 years of strengthening. The entire spectrum of cooperation between the two countries was discussed the day before at a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Venezuela, Ivan Gil Pinto recalled. The parties, according to him, have outlined plans for the near future.
