President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, congratulated the President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa and the citizens of that country on their national holiday – Freedom Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"Belarus has consistently supported the people of Africa in overcoming apartheid on international platforms, and today we are striving together to establish a just world order based on friendship, trust, and respect for the UN Charter and international law. On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, it is particularly pleasant to note the opportunity to bring bilateral interaction to a new level," the congratulatory message reads.
The President confirmed the interest in further developing contacts with South Africa across a wide range of areas, particularly in industrial cooperation with a focus on agriculture, in information and communication technologies, food security, education, and the protection of motherhood and childhood.
Taking the opportunity, Alexander Lukashenko invited Cyril Ramaphosa to visit Belarus to give new impetus to cooperation between the two states. He also wished him good health and fruitful political activity, and the friendly people of South Africa – harmony and progress.
