President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has arrived on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates. The Belarusian presidential aircraft landed at Abu Dhabi airport, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
Immediately at the airport, Alexander Lukashenko held talks with the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
"Thank you for your hospitality. I would like to discuss a number of issues concerning our relations here over the next few days, and to meet with investors who are working in Belarus, investing in our economy," said the Head of State, detailing the purpose of his visit.
As reported by the Press Service of the President, Alexander Lukashenko has a series of meetings and negotiations scheduled. During these, the main focus will be on the continuation and development of cooperation in trade and economic, investment, humanitarian, and other areas of mutual interest.
The previous day, the Head of State paid a working visit to Oman. High-level negotiations in Muscat crowned mutual efforts to elevate cooperation to a new level.
One of Oman's key proposals is to establish a hub for Belarusian goods there. The local population has always been skilled in trade, and Belarus greatly needs such partners. The parties intend to develop an updated cooperation roadmap in the near future, after which the Sultan himself will be awaited with a visit in Minsk.
"We have, in fact, determined our action plan with the Sultan. We have established an intergovernmental commission and, as of yesterday, have begun developing a roadmap – our action plan. In the middle of next year, the Sultan of Oman will visit Belarus. We will approve this roadmap and plan," said the President.
Delegations from both sides also worked actively during the visit. Meetings and negotiations were held at ministries, resulting in the signing of a number of documents in the fields of industry, standardization, and conformity assessment. At the departmental level, specific mechanisms for building cooperation and real projects have been worked out, and localised roadmaps have been agreed upon. In the very near future, in accordance with these roadmaps, mutual visits at the level of business circles will take place, and company representatives will focus on building long-term and reliable relationships at their level.
