President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is taking part in the Global Atomic Forum, which is being held in Moscow at the VDNKh exhibition centre, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Together with other distinguished guests, before the plenary session, the head of state toured the exposition of the "Atom" pavilion. The tour was conducted by the Director General of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom", Alexey Likhachev. He presented the pavilion and spoke about the capabilities of Russia's nuclear industry.
Prior to participating in the forum, on the territory of the Belarusian pavilion at VDNKh, Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali.
Representatives from over one hundred states, including CIS countries, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, are participating in the Global Atomic Forum. The exhibition and business programme of the forum have brought together renowned nuclear scientists, researchers, representatives of government bodies, international organisations, and major companies.
The international forum "World Nuclear Week" is being held for the first time and is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Russia's nuclear industry. The iconic "ATOM" museum at VDNKh was chosen as the venue for the forum. It houses the largest and most modern exposition in Russia dedicated to nuclear energy. It covers the history of nuclear energy development from the inception of the Soviet atomic project to the present day.
