Letters of credence were presented to the President by diplomats from Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, Laos, Morocco, Nigeria, Russia, the Republic of Chad, and Sri Lanka. Traditionally, Alexander Lukashenko spoke about Belarus's cooperation with each of these states.
About Russia
Welcoming the Ambassador of Russia Boris Gryzlov, the President said: "Everyone in Belarus knows you well as a long-standing friend and values your significant contribution to strengthening and developing interaction between our countries."
According to the head of state, Minsk and Moscow face great, ambitious tasks. "2021 went down in the history of our states as the year of making fateful decisions to deepen economic integration, which will allow us to elevate our strategic partnership to a qualitatively new level. I very much hope that in your professional activities, as an experienced leader in the Russian state, and indeed of global scale, you will contribute to strengthening multifaceted Belarusian-Russian ties and developing integration interaction," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
About Vietnam
Belarus intends to intensify cooperation with states in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the head of state stressed. "We call these regions the 'outer arc' based on their geographical distance. However, in political and economic terms, many of these countries are our close allies and partners," he noted.
Addressing the representatives of Asian states, the President emphasized: "Our successful cooperation in the political sphere has become the foundation for economic interaction. We count on the further development and strengthening of relations."
Alexander Lukashenko recalled that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Vietnam. "Our peoples have much in common: we fought together against external aggressors and won our right to build sovereign and independent states," noted the Belarusian leader.
About Laos
Alexander Lukashenko noted the country's interest in giving new quality to the traditionally friendly relations with Laos. In his opinion, Belarus' capabilities can largely meet the needs of the Laotian economy. "As you know, Laos today seeks to develop its industry, agriculture, and scientific and technological base. Our state is ready to offer you our knowledge and experience," said the President.
About Sri Lanka
Speaking about cooperation with Sri Lanka, the head of state noted that two years ago marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and during this long period, significant progress has been achieved in the development of political contacts, trade, and cooperation in the field of education. "Belarus has something to offer Sri Lanka to increase the efficiency of its agricultural sector: from specialized machinery to ready-made technological projects for harvesting and storing crops. Our relations are developing dynamically. We are ready to give this dynamic even greater scope from our side," assured Alexander Lukashenko.
About Morocco
The Belarusian leader drew attention to the potential for developing economic interaction with African countries. "An important trading partner of Belarus in the north of this continent is the Kingdom of Morocco," he noted. "We have significant unrealized potential for trade development. Great prospects are opening up in agriculture, industry, as well as in humanitarian areas."
About Nigeria
"Belarus views the Federal Republic of Nigeria as an important and promising foreign economic partner. In our view, we are capable of significantly increasing mutual trade," the President is convinced.
According to him, Belarus' participation in the mechanization of Nigeria's agriculture, infrastructure development, and the implementation of joint projects for mineral resource extraction will allow cooperation to be raised to a higher level.
About the Republic of Chad
The head of state noted Belarus' interest in intensifying contacts with the Republic of Chad in all areas of bilateral interaction. "Large reserves of mineral resources have been explored in your country, and Belarus has the necessary mining equipment and machinery," the President pointed out. "We are also ready to establish effective partnerships with local companies in agriculture. We can offer automotive and road construction equipment, medicines, and food products."
About the Dominican Republic
Addressing the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus highly values constructive and mutually respectful relations with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
"We see good prospects for strengthening interstate ties with the Dominican Republic. Despite the geographical distance, we have many points of commonality. The economies of Belarus and the Dominican Republic are largely complementary," said the Head of State.
"I believe many of you have already thoroughly studied the structure of the Belarusian economy and, possibly, identified the most promising areas for interaction and cooperation for yourselves," noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The President added that it is also important for the Belarusian side that foreign diplomats find time to become more closely acquainted with the country's rich history and unique culture, traditions, and the hospitality of its people. "I have no doubt that you will find new good friends here," said the Head of State. "I sincerely wish that this period in your lives remains memorable and very fruitful."
