Among the distinguished foreign guests who also arrived for the parade were the presidents of Kazakhstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, representatives of the highest authorities of some other states, and ambassadors of countries allied with the USSR in the anti-Hitler coalition. Heads of some international organisations were also invited, including the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board Mikhail Myasnikovich and the Secretary General of the CSTO Stanislav Zas.

In addition to Russian military personnel, representatives from 13 countries participated in the parade, including the Banner Group of the Honour Guard Company of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus, which marched across the cobblestones of Red Square.

In Russia, the parade to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory was postponed from May 9 this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The President of the Russian Federation chose June 24, as it was on this day in 1945 that the historic Victory Parade took place. By analogy, the current celebration was named the Victory Parade.

As reported, Belarus held a military parade to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory on May 9. It involved about 3,000 military personnel and over 150 units of equipment, with 36 aircraft and helicopters flying over Minsk. "This holiday is sacred to us. The tragedy of the Belarusian people, who bore the titanic burden of losses and destruction of the most brutal war of the 20th century, is incomparable to any difficulties of the present day," emphasised the President of Belarus at the military parade.

On the eve of his visit to Moscow, the Head of the Belarusian State took part in a series of commemorative events. On June 20, with the participation of Alexander Lukashenko, a memorial complex in memory of the burned villages of the Mogilev region was opened in the village of Borki, Kirovsky district. The next day, the President visited the Svetlogorsk district, where the opening ceremony of the "Ola" memorial complex took place on the site of a village burned by the Nazis during the war. On the day the Great Patriotic War began, June 22, the Head of State traveled to Brest. Alexander Lukashenko visited the Brest Fortress, where, according to tradition, a commemorative event was held at the hour the war began.
