President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko commented on the process of selecting personnel for the new government and beyond. He made relevant statements while receiving a report from the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"I already see in the media they are starting to chew over: 'Oh, the government! Who will be in it - who won't...' They simply forgot, journalists, bloggers, and others, especially those not from our country, that the government is not formed after the elections. We have been gradually forming the government for several months, half a year, and somewhere around a year before the elections, appointing ministers and so on. Almost half of our ministers, members of the government, have been working for less than a year. That is, these are newly appointed people," said the head of state. "But the leadership and top officials, and others - everything that falls within the President's competence - these people are subject to review."
Alexander Lukashenko recalled that he had instructed a special commission, which includes Natalya Kochanova, to review these issues and submit proposals for candidates. "So that there are more opinions. I know you have discussed the personalities of the candidates more than once. What have you concluded?" the President inquired.
Kochanova Answered the Question of How Much the Government Composition in Belarus May Change
He explained that the commission's work involves not only proposing candidates for the government but also for other positions in general. However, the primary focus is, of course, on the government leadership, a number of ministers, and top officials.
The President also asked Natalya Kochanova to report on the outcomes of her recent visit to Azerbaijan.
