President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the youth active, spoke about what the apparatus of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly will be like and where it will be located, BelTA correspondent reports.
The Head of State, answering a question about the prospects for the development and arrangement of the territory around the Palace of Independence and the so-called Belarusian statehood quarter in Minsk, emphasized that no fundamental constructions are planned here anymore. This also applies to the building for the apparatus of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. As the President explained, a proposal to build it next to the Supreme Court was previously discussed. However, Alexander Lukashenko did not support this option.
"There is a lot of talk about the All-Belarusian People's Assembly: 'They will build another residence for themselves there...' We haven't built anything," the President said. "When the All-Belarusian People's Assembly starts working, the apparatus will be less than 30 people in total. There isn't such an administrative apparatus even in any single organization, or ministry. Now there will be nine people. Then, possibly, the staff of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly will increase to 30 (people. - BelTA's note). We need some place and premises."
"Options were offered to me near the Supreme Court (a very small building). We don't need this now," Alexander Lukashenko explained. "I think nine people can be accommodated in the Palace of Independence, the Presidential Administration. We have enough space for this. That's all. We will not build anything else here (in the Belarusian statehood quarter. - BelTA's note)."
