President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed heads of local authorities to show more initiative. The Head of State made this statement while making personnel decisions, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"When you arrive at your posts, gentlemen, there should be no rushing, no excessive pressure. Every subordinate of yours should have a chance, a right to a certain, as it is fashionable to say now, mistake. But not a total, serious mistake. You must work and perform your duties," Alexander Lukashenko addressed the appointed heads of the local vertical. "Look upwards less. There should be more independence, because the responsibility you bear will be immense."
However, in order to resolve issues and bear responsibility for them, one must have rights and powers, the President reasonably noted. "You have received them today – act," he stated.
"Somewhere at the beginning of the year (winter will be calmer) we need to gather the vertical of power here with me and discuss all the issues after making decisions," the Belarusian leader continued. "For example, the oblast executive committees will make a decision regarding personnel, they will come and say: here we need to do more work, give us these and these rights, and take away others. So that they can have a completely new, different style of work."
