President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko worked on the territory of the official residence "Drozdy" on Sunday, harvesting potatoes and melons. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the head of state's press secretary, Natalya Eismont.

Initially, Alexander Lukashenko, together with his youngest son, harvested potatoes. They managed a plot of 18 ares in an hour and a half. The harvest was pleasing - 70 bags of potatoes. In the very near future, all the produce harvested on this day will be transferred to orphanages and nursing homes.

On Sunday, the harvesting of melons - watermelons and melons - also began at the presidential residence. Last year, the President personally demonstrated that these crops can and should be grown in Belarus. A year later, the area allocated for melons at the Belarusian leader's residence has tripled. The first picked watermelon was tasted right in the field. And it showed that the harvest was a success.
