The situation in the monetary sphere and on the foreign exchange market does not cause concern. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on September 9 at a meeting with the staff of the National Bank and the management of banks, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State recalled that six months had passed since Roman Golovchenko was appointed head of the National Bank. And then specific instructions were given, primarily to strengthen the role of the banking system in supporting the economy. The task was also set to actively implement digital technologies and strengthen information security.
"As I am informed, on the whole, the situation in the monetary sphere and on the foreign exchange market does not cause concern," the President stated. "But not everything has been done at the moment, there are shortcomings."
In particular, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned complaints against banks from ordinary people: either old dollars are not accepted, or insurance services are imposed on clients.
"Let's agree, from January 1, 2026, the existence of such facts will automatically entail disciplinary responsibility for the head (of the bank. - BELTA note)," the Head of State emphasized. "It is unacceptable to offend people with some far-fetched issues. Do not show that you are smarter than others."
