The sovereignty and independence of Belarus are constant and not subject to discussion. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on August 1, while making personnel decisions, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The main issue is the economy. It is issue number one. If there is an economy, there will be everything else. At the same time, I want to note: the sovereignty and independence of Belarus (which is so much talked about, and these ideas are thrown at us from the West, that we are almost losing the sovereignty and independence of our country by cooperating with Russia), I want to tell you directly as a future representative not only of the President of our country in Russia - these are constant things. This is not even discussed," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko, appointing Dmitry Krutoy, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, as the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia.
The Head of State once again noted that Belarus and Russia can build the closest alliance while preserving their sovereignty and independence. "We are smart enough people. And in Russia, the President is absolutely sane and understands in which direction we should move. Therefore, preserving the independence of Russia and Belarus, we will be able to build such an alliance that federal and confederative states, and perhaps even unitary states, might envy," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
