February 11, Minsk /BELTA/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko welcomed the participants of the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly, noting that it is they who are the masters of the capital and the country these days, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The Head of State first of all thanked the local authorities for holding dialogue platforms in various cities on the eve of the forum, where people could discuss existing problems and propose solutions. "This has given a very, very large number of people the opportunity to express their point of view," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

The President stated that the participants of the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly are today the masters of the Belarusian capital and the country as a whole. "Pay less attention to various channels, live your own life," the Head of State urged. "We have been rocked, we are being rocked now, especially you (I am used to it), and we will be rocked later. As they say in the vernacular, don't get too worked up. Live by your own mind. You are the legitimate representatives of the people of Belarus, of work collectives, of public organizations."

Alexander Lukashenko added that one should not expect the current forum to solve global problems. "We are identifying them. We are talking about how we will develop in the coming five years. Perhaps we will manage to look beyond the horizon," he noted. "You are the masters, if you want to speak, to express your word, come to the microphone and speak as masters. You are not lackeys, you do not have to adapt to anyone. We are going through a very difficult moment and must be open, honest and decent to ourselves, our families, friends, loved ones, and the Belarusian people."

Following a brief address by the Head of State, the participants of the forum elected the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly in the proposed composition. Moreover, it was decided to elect it not by individual members, but as a whole.
