President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved decisions on state border protection for 2026, BELTA reports.

These are decisions on state border protection by border service bodies, as well as in airspace.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that the approval of state border protection decisions at the highest level at the beginning of the year is a good military tradition that has been established for many years. "Now this (countering threats to border security. - BELTA note) is more relevant than ever," he said.

The Head of State emphasized that the situation around Belarus is not becoming calmer. "We have always been in a very serious situation. Today, unfortunately, there are no tendencies for it to become calmer. Looking at the map, we see that we are practically surrounded by military units from all sides. The only window to the east with the Russian Federation, where things are a little easier for us. But I would not say, especially in connection with the recent events in Ukraine, when drones can fly into your territory from unknown directions. Let's be frank, and we have not yet learned to react 100% to all these incursions, and we have not learned to destroy them 100%. I don't know if 100% is possible. But we must strive for this," the President stated.
