President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe and the entire Sri Lankan people on the national holiday – Independence Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader. "Despite recent challenges, Sri Lanka is gradually recovering from the economic crisis and is implementing plans for the social and sustainable development of the country," the congratulatory message reads. The Head of State noted that warm and constructive relations have been established between Belarus and Sri Lanka, trade is growing, business ties are expanding, and the number of Sri Lankan students receiving education in Belarusian higher education institutions is increasing. "I am convinced that this year we will find ways to intensify political dialogue, cooperation in such sectors as agriculture, mechanical engineering, science and technology, pharmaceuticals, as well as in the supply of food products," the President emphasized. Alexander Lukashenko wished Ranil Wickremesinghe and his loved ones good health, happiness, and success, and the people of Sri Lanka – peace and prosperity.
