Lukashenko is confident that the election period in Belarus and Russia will pass peacefully

The Head of the Belarusian State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, is confident that the election period in Belarus and Russia will proceed calmly. He stated this at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Saint Petersburg, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The Head of State noted that the meeting of the SSC is taking place on the eve of important domestic political events. For the first time in the history of Belarus, a unified voting day will be held on February 25th of this year. "Following Russia's example, we have also established a constitutional unified voting day. On this day, members of parliament and local councils (we have retained regional, district, and village councils, as it was in Soviet times) will be elected. And on March 17th, presidential elections will be held in Russia," said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

"It is a challenging period, but as you can see, it is proceeding calmly. And I am confident that we will approach these dates calmly and conduct these events just as calmly," said the Head of the Belarusian State.
