The head of the Belarusian state was welcomed by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov in the congress hall of the state residence "Ala-Archa". Before the summit began, the President of Belarus held a bilateral meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State will traditionally be held in narrow and expanded formats. Alexander Lukashenko will present Belarus's position and proposals on the most pressing issues of cooperation within the Commonwealth.
It is expected that the leaders of the CIS countries will adopt a number of joint statements.
The agenda item on establishing observer and partner statuses of the CIS is aimed at expanding the potential of the Commonwealth and enhancing its role in the international arena.
A number of amendments to the legal acts of the CIS are also planned, as well as discussions on current issues across a wide range of topics.
On the eve of the summit, a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) of the CIS countries was held in Bishkek. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Aleinik, took part in it on behalf of Belarus.
The CMFA approved four draft joint statements of the Council of CIS Heads of State. Among them is the draft Statement on the Principles of Interstate Relations in a Multipolar World. The document reflects a common viewpoint on the importance of forming a stable multipolar world order, declares the intention to promote the development of a secure architecture of international relations to address issues of international and regional development, emphasizes the aspiration to turn the Commonwealth region into a space of peace, sustainable development and common prosperity, and confirms the CIS's openness to broad international cooperation.
At the summit on October 13, it is also planned to sign the Treaty on the Establishment of the International Organization for the Russian Language within the CIS, the Agreement on the Establishment of the International Center for Risk Assessment of Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime and Financing of Terrorism, and the Agreement on the Establishment of the Coordination Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States Member States in the Field of Forensic Expert Activity.
