"This is a historic day because you have come to Minsk for the first time," Alexander Lukashenko said, welcoming the head of the Russian region. "I am convinced that your visit is a landmark event that will allow us to open new horizons of cooperation together, and this must be done in the name of our fraternal peoples. I really hope for this."The Republic of Tuva is a region located in the geographical center of Asia, in the south of Eastern Siberia, and is part of the Siberian Federal District of Russia. In terms of area, the territory of the republic is comparable to Belarus - 170.5 thousand sq. km (Belarus - 207 thousand sq. km). However, the population is much smaller - 330.4 thousand people.
Given the low population density and significant distance (about 5 thousand km), the trade turnover between Belarus and the Republic of Tuva is currently measured in thousands of US dollars. In 2020, it amounted to about $275 thousand, and in January-November 2021 - $47.5 thousand. Belarusian exports predominate in mutual trade, while goods from Tuva are supplied to Belarus in very small volumes.
