President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Pope Francis on the anniversary of the solemn commencement of his Pontificate. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"In our country, your wise approach to issues of supporting good neighbourliness and mutual understanding between peoples, and the focus of spiritual efforts on preaching the ideals of mercy and love for one's neighbour are valued and respected," the congratulatory message reads.

The Head of State noted the successful development of cooperation between Minsk and the Vatican, which will reach a qualitatively new level with the opening of the Belarusian Embassy to the Holy See this year.

"I am confident that your pastoral activities will continue to contribute to strengthening peace and harmony, and preserving Christian values. In Belarus, your personal concern for the well-being of believers and the unity of our society is felt," the President emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Pope Francis health, longevity, and God's grace for the benefit of his high mission.
