President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko advocates for further integration of law enforcement agencies of the CIS countries. He stated this at a meeting with participants of the session of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Commonwealth Member States, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"Our equal partnership, which we have established, supported by a solid contractual framework and time-tested, is built on the principles of openness, trust, and mutual assistance. None of you will stand up and say that, for example, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia (a vast Russia, a world power) has pressured anyone. Again, this speaks in favour of our cooperation with you. Over the years of joint work, we have repeatedly become convinced: only together can we most effectively counter global, transnational, as well as internal threats. We will always, as far as possible and impossible, support and cooperate with all of you. If there is a desire, we can seriously help each other in very difficult situations," Alexander Lukashenko assured. "The Ministries of Internal Affairs of the CIS countries are, in essence, a shield for law-abiding citizens and a sword for the criminal world. But only if we are together. Based on this, Belarus has always been and remains a consistent supporter of integration within the Commonwealth of Independent States, in this case, further integration of law enforcement agencies."

He noted that the law enforcement agencies face serious tasks. Alexander Lukashenko outlined some of them in his opening remarks. They concern ensuring legality, peace, order, and stability in the states, countering terrorism, and combating cybercrime.

The Head of State noted that the first such meeting in the format of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs took place in February 1992 in Minsk. And this time, Belarus is hosting the fiftieth, юбилейное meeting of the council. "Such a long history of the representative forum of heads of internal affairs bodies shows the exceptional importance of consolidating the efforts of law enforcement officers to ensure security, protect the constitutional rights and interests of citizens of all Commonwealth countries," the President said.
