A large-scale counter-terrorism operation has been carried out in Belarus.

This was announced today by the President of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, at a ceremony for presenting state awards at the Palace of Independence, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The head of state arrived at the event slightly later than planned. The President explained the reason for the delay: "Today we have concluded a large-scale counter-terrorism operation in the country. We thought they would strangle us economically. No. Terror within the country against people and facilities is continuing on a larger scale. We will speak about this in the near future."

"After today's conclusion of counter-intelligence measures, we will not be presenting claims to some Heiko Maas, the German Foreign Minister, but to the Chancellor himself and some of the German leadership. More on this later," added Alexander Lukashenko.

The President addressed words of special gratitude to those who wear shoulder straps, and for whom the oath, officer's honour, and military duty are an unshakable system of life coordinates. "The strength of our state is evidenced by the fact that the guys in uniform have proven themselves with dignity and have come for awards, while their subordinates and colleagues carried out the large-scale operation that has just concluded. This shows that we have willpower, we are ideologically steadfast, and no one will bend us," stated the Belarusian leader.

He emphasised that the military and rescuers have recently proven what it means to be true defenders of their country. "Perhaps some of you, about 10 months ago, were gasping and groaning on the internet, 'oh, the violence,' and did not understand what was happening. But today, there is no one in this hall who does not understand what is happening. There are no people in the country today who do not understand what is happening. And thank God that it happened last year. Those events exposed sores and tumours in society that we had to eliminate, and we have eliminated them. If, after all that has been shown and told, people still do not understand, it is no longer a misunderstanding, they are enemies, and their goal is the destruction of the state," stressed Alexander Lukashenko.-
