On 18 February, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko heard a report from State Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Wolfovich on the progress of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, carried out by order of the Head of State, BELTA reports.
The Head of State was informed about the completion of the second stage, during which the combat readiness of most military units in almost all formations of the Armed Forces, including special operations forces, was checked. Control exercises were conducted at training grounds on firing and physical training, which was the main focus at the President's request.
During the combat readiness check, units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were involved as a conditional enemy. The President was informed of a preliminary assessment of the actions of the servicemen of the Armed Forces and Internal Troops, and how professionally they coped with the assigned tasks.
The Head of State set the task to thoroughly analyse the shortcomings identified during the inspection in order to identify weak points and improve the training of personnel, including officers.
Overall, the inspection will continue. It is expected that a number of other military units will be checked to assess the level of training in all types and branches of the Armed Forces.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasised: it is important to obtain a real picture of the capability and readiness of the Armed Forces to act in accordance with their purpose based on the results of the inspection. Therefore, the emphasis is placed on the suddenness and maximum objectivity of the assessment of the military units being inspected.
