President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko heard a report from the Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Shuleiko, on the region's readiness for the harvesting campaign. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Over the past weekend, the President inspected the fields and crops of the Grodno and Brest regions. Following up on these events, a principled and detailed discussion was held today with the Governor of the Brest Region, during which Yuri Shuleiko reported to the Head of State on the region's readiness for the harvesting campaign. Incidentally, selected farms in the Brest Region have already begun harvesting winter barley," the press service informed.

In total, the Brest Region is to harvest grain crops on 360 thousand hectares. Winter barley sowings have been increased by a third. This crop consistently yields good results. This year, approximately 30 thousand hectares (of winter barley) are to be harvested. The first farms selectively began harvesting on June 17. Over the past two years, farms in the Brest Region have received over 300 new grain harvesting combines. Work in this area continues.

Approximately 6,000 people will be involved in grain harvesting in the Brest Region – combine operators, drivers, operators, and other workers. 1,384 grain harvesting combines will be deployed to the fields.
