President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, during negotiations with the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, announced the beginning of a new stage in bilateral relations, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"In Muscat last December, we agreed to jointly open a new chapter in our relations and to mark the beginning of their new stage with your first official visit to Minsk. A great deal of work has been done in anticipation of this event. A comprehensive cooperation roadmap has been prepared, filled with specific tasks in the areas of food security, industry, tourism, transport and logistics, and investment," said the President of Belarus.
According to him, the establishment of the Joint Committee for Cooperation and Investment has provided stability to interaction and confidence in achieving the set goals. Its high-level curator from the Omani side is the Crown Prince - Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said. "With his personal involvement, following your instructions and ours, governments and business circles have made significant progress in several areas," noted Alexander Lukashenko.
"Thanks to the jointly adopted decisions to ease visa requirements and launch direct flights, since February 2025, over seventeen hundred Belarusians have already visited your beautiful country. We expect a reciprocal flow of Omani guests. The visit of the Omani Minister of Health to Belarus has shown that there are prospects for medical tourism, as well as for educational and cultural exchanges," said the head of state.
He noted that the agreement on visa-free travel for ordinary passports, to be signed during the visit, will bring Belarus and Oman even closer and facilitate the implementation of joint projects.
"In Muscat (during the visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Oman in December 2024. - BELTA's note) we talked about the fact that we need to launch two or three joint projects to begin with and move forward. It can be said that this task is being fulfilled by our businesses. With our projects in Oman, we are strengthening the food security not only of Oman but of your entire region," he said. "Omani investments in the woodworking sector will help to make more effective use of Belarus's natural resources. Moreover, intensive contacts have made it possible to form a serious pool of additional projects."
Alexander Lukashenko thanked for the interest in organising joint assembly production facilities and sales of MAZ and AMKODOR machinery, and stated that Belarusian enterprises are ready to translate cooperation with the partner chosen by the Omani side into a practical dimension.
"As a result, we expect to establish a good and long-term foothold in Oman – a hub for promoting Belarusian products in the Persian Gulf region and East Africa," said the President of Belarus.
There are also prospects for cooperation in the pharmaceutical field: the first contracts have been concluded for the supply of Belarusian medicines to Oman, which are currently undergoing certification.
"Now, drawing on the best international experience, we are building a new National Museum of the History of Belarus. We would be grateful for advice from the most, one might say, Belarusian Omani – the Secretary General of the National Museum of Oman," said the head of state.
The Secretary General of the museum, Jamal Al-Musavi, speaks Russian, and his mother is a native of Belarus. During the visit of the President of Belarus to Oman in December 2024, he conducted an excursion for Alexander Lukashenko around the National Museum of Oman and stated his readiness to share experience in the construction of the museum in Minsk.
The document notes that the negotiations were held in an atmosphere of trust, friendship, and mutual understanding. The parties expressed their determination to work together on strengthening and developing Belarusian-Omani cooperation, and exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues of mutual interest.
