President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has stated the need for further strengthening the country's defence capabilities. This was the subject of a meeting on equipping the Armed Forces and developing the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasised that in modern conditions, only a state capable of ensuring its military security can be considered self-sufficient. "Whether we want it or not, I have long warned the Belarusian people about this, and you know it even better, we will have to strengthen our defence capabilities," said the head of state.
"The build-up of military components at our borders, especially from the Polish side, is not just alarming us. We understand that this is not done for no reason. People do not simply spend money on tanks and ammunition. Therefore, at the time, taking into account the special military operation of the Russian Federation, I made a decision to strengthen our defence capabilities on an even more serious scale," the President said.
